Ghostface Returns: Scream 7 Trailer Brings Sidney Prescott Back Into the Nightmare

The Scream franchise is sharpening its knife once again. Paramount Pictures has released the official trailer for Scream 7, offering fans their first full look at the latest chapter in the long-running slasher series ahead of its February 27, 2026 theatrical release.

The trailer confirms the return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, marking her first appearance in the franchise since Scream (2022). Sidney is once again drawn into a new wave of Ghostface murders, this time connected to a fresh generation while still echoing the franchise’s bloody past.

Joining Campbell are returning cast members Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley, alongside newer faces including Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding, who reprise their roles from the previous installments. The film also introduces Isabel May as Sidney’s daughter, adding a new personal dimension to the unfolding mystery.

Scream 7 is directed by Kevin Williamson, the original writer of the 1996 Scream, marking his first time directing an entry in the franchise. The trailer leans heavily into the series’ signature blend of tension, self-awareness, and brutal slasher set pieces, while teasing a story that revisits legacy characters without framing the film as a conclusion or final chapter.

The footage showcases classic Ghostface terror, masked pursuits, ominous phone calls, and escalating paranoia, paired with modern twists that reflect the franchise’s long-standing habit of commenting on horror trends while delivering genuine scares.

Paramount has not described Scream 7 as the final installment, and no official statements from the studio or filmmakers indicate that the franchise is ending with this film. Instead, the trailer positions Scream 7 as a legacy-driven continuation, expanding the series while honoring its roots.

Scream 7 opens in theaters nationwide on February 27, 2026, continuing one of horror’s most enduring and self-reflective franchises nearly three decades after its debut.
