TRIPLE-THREAT TERROR!

Found Footage, Creature Features, and Psychological Horror All Drop Today

Horror fans have a full menu of scares today, with a major found-footage franchise sequel, a highly anticipated creature feature, and an acclaimed psychological thriller all making their debut.

1. V/H/S/Halloween – The Anthology Returns to Shudder-

The acclaimed V/H/S found-footage franchise is back with its eighth installment, V/H/S/Halloween, which premieres today exclusively on Shudder and AMC+. The anthology features six interconnected segments from a team of talented directors, including Paco Plaza (REC) and Alex Ross Perry.

The plot features a wraparound narrative where a collection of Halloween-themed videotapes unleashes a series of terrifying, blood-soaked tales. Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with the film scoring a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of its debut. Critics are calling it a spirited mix of practical-effects-driven carnage and inventive scares, designed to be a “love letter to father-and-son-built haunted houses that pop up in suburban yards.”

2. GOOD BOY – The Haunted House Told By a Dog-

The highly acclaimed Norwegian film Good Boy hits theaters today. This unique film tackles the haunted house subgenre from a completely new perspective: that of a dog named Indy. The plot follows Indy’s owner, Todd, who moves into his late grandfather’s secluded cabin. As supernatural entities begin to manifest, only Indy knows the truth.

The film has received glowing praise, holding a 95% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics are highlighting its smart use of the canine perspective, which forces the film to rely on suggestion and suspense rather than dialogue, creating a genuinely haunting and emotionally engaging experience.

3. COYOTES – Eco-Horror Meets Home Invasion-

The horror-comedy Coyotes, starring real-life couple Justin Long and Kate Bosworth, is set for its national theatrical release today. Directed by Colin Minihan, the film centers on a family trapped in their Hollywood Hills home during a catastrophic wildfire, who find themselves battling a pack of savage, desperate coyotes. The film is a mix of creature feature and social satire, using the chaos of a natural disaster to drive the animals into a primal, bloody home-invasion scenario.
