New Trailer for Alpha Unleashes a Terrifying Vision of Contagion and Family Horror

A new nightmare has arrived, and it comes from one of the most daring voices in modern horror. Director Julia Ducournau, celebrated for her provocative and visceral film Raw, has released the first official trailer for her upcoming horror feature Alpha, and it is already shaking the genre community. The trailer reveals a film steeped in body horror, infection terror, and emotional devastation.

Alpha centers on a family trapped in a rapidly deteriorating situation as a mysterious, contagious infection begins to sweep through their home. The trailer wastes no time establishing a sense of claustrophobic dread: feverish transformations, trembling bodies, and glimpses of violent outbursts hint at a horror story where survival and humanity are pushed to breaking points.

Ducournau’s signature style, a blend of raw physicality, emotional intensity, and unsettling realism, is unmistakable. Fans of Raw and her Palme d’Or–winning Titane will immediately recognize her approach to horror that doesn’t simply shock but burrows under the skin. Alpha appears to continue that tradition, fusing disturbing imagery with themes of family bonds, collapse, and the terror of watching a loved one change into something unrecognizable.

Alpha is now officially set to hit theaters on March 27, 2026, a date confirmed ahead of next trailer debut. With Ducournau’s reputation for bold, visceral filmmaking and the film’s unsettling blend of body horror, emotional trauma and viral panic, Alpha is already emerging as one of the most anticipated horror releases of 2026.

In an era where infection-based narratives carry real-world weight, Alpha seems poised to tap directly into contemporary anxieties, offering not just fear, but reflection on vulnerability, connection, and the fragility of the body.

The infection begins soon.

And according to the trailer, no one
