Robert Eggers’ Lycanthrope Horror Werwulf Wraps Filming- Gothic Werewolf Tale Nears Next Phase

Production has officially wrapped on Werwulf, the upcoming gothic horror film from acclaimed director Robert Eggers, marking a major milestone in what promises to be one of this year’s most anticipated genre projects. Actor Ralph Ineson confirmed the news on social media, celebrating the completion of the shoot and signaling that the film is now moving into post-production.

Eggers, known for his meticulous and atmospheric filmmaking in horror and historical cinema (The Witch, The Lighthouse, Nosferatu), is tackling a myth-inspired werewolf narrative with Werwulf. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the project is described as a myth of the lycanthrope brought to life through Eggers’ signature blend of period immersion and unsettling tone.

Ineson’s post alongside behind-the-scenes imagery gives fans their first confirmation that principal photography has concluded, a critical step as the film transitions to editing, effects, and score. Eggers’ projects are known for their careful craftsmanship, especially in sound design and visual texture, and Werwulf is no exception, with industry insiders already calling it one of the most intriguing horror films currently in the pipeline.

With principal photography now complete, Werwulf moves into post-production ahead of its U.S. theatrical release on December 25, 2026. Positioned as a prestige holiday horror release, the film is expected to make a strong impact with its atmospheric storytelling and mythic approach to lycanthrope folklore, further cementing Robert Eggers’ reputation as one of modern horror’s most distinctive filmmakers.

Fans of atmospheric horror should watch closely for Werwulf updates in the coming months, including trailer drops, festival announcements, and cast interviews that could shed light on the film’s narrative and stylistic direction.
