The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 premieres tonight, Sunday, July 26, at 9 PM ET on AMC and AMC+. The eight-episode season runs weekly through its finale on September 13, 2026. Early streaming access is available on AMC+ right now.
Season 2’s finale eliminated the major antagonists. Bruegel is dead. The Croat vanished. The Dama survived, but barely. That power vacuum changes everything. Season 3 follows Maggie, Negan, and Perlie as they work together to build something resembling a real community in post-apocalyptic New York City. After two seasons of toxic history, watching these two try to actually build something together is a genuinely fresh direction.
Seth Hoffman steps in as showrunner, taking over from Eli Jorné. He brings experience from the original Walking Dead series. Two episodes also screened early at the 65th Monte Carlo Television Festival in June. Cohan, Morgan, and Hoffman all attended. AMC clearly views Season 3 as a major step forward.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan return as Negan and Maggie. Logan Kim is back as Hershel, alongside Gaius Charles and Željko Ivanek. New additions include Aimee Garcia (Dexter, Lucifer) as Renata, and Jimmi Simpson as Dillard, a bar operator who believes he can talk to walkers. That last one sounds either deeply interesting or completely unhinged. We mean that as a compliment.
