Blumhouse is bringing horror fans back to theaters in a big way this spring, officially launching its annual Halfway to Halloween celebration with a special one-night event centered around The Mummy.
The event is a collaboration between Blumhouse, Atomic Monster, New Line Cinema, and Dolby Cinema, marking a major evolution for the fan-favorite seasonal initiative.
This year’s celebration will kick off with an exclusive one-night premiere screening on April 16 at 7 PM, taking place in Dolby Cinema across 183 AMC Theatres in 47 cities across the United States. Tickets for the special screening are already on sale, offering fans an early look at one of 2026’s most anticipated horror films.
Directed by Lee Cronin, The Mummy is being positioned as a deeply unsettling theatrical experience. Cronin has teased that the film will feature disturbing imagery designed to get “under your skin,” emphasizing the importance of watching it in a theater environment with immersive sound and visuals.
Blumhouse founder Jason Blum also highlighted the significance of the event, noting that horror fans don’t wait for Halloween, they live in it year-round. This year’s initiative reflects that philosophy by offering something new: a true opening-night style experience tied to the Halfway to Halloween brand.
In previous years, the Halfway to Halloween program focused on re-releases of popular titles from the Blumhouse and Atomic Monster libraries. However, 2026 marks a turning point, with the event now serving as a platform for premiering major new horror films simultaneously nationwide.
With its nationwide rollout and premium theatrical presentation, the event signals a growing push to bring communal horror experiences back to cinemas, even outside the traditional Halloween season.
