‘The Barn Part III’ Wraps Award-Winning Festival Run, Opens Blu-ray and VHS Pre-Orders

The Barn Part III is making the jump from festival screens to living rooms. Following an extensive award-winning festival run, Scream Team Releasing has opened Blu-ray and VHS pre-orders for the film.

A Standout Festival Run

The film played genre festivals including Fright Fest, Popcorn Frights, Panic Fest, Salem Horror Fest, Smodcastle Horror Fest, GenreBlast, Crimson Screen, and Sitges, among others. Along the way, it picked up a long list of honors: Best Feature Film at GenreBlast and Requiem Fear Fest, Best Director for Justin M. Seaman at NJ Horror Con, and Best Cinematography for Zane Hershberger, also at NJ Horror Con. The film also won Best Poster Design for Mariano Mattos at Days of the Dead, Best Underground Horror Feature Film at Dead Walk Fest, Best Gore at Shriek Show Film Fest, and Best Kill at Requiem Fear Fest.

One category followed the film everywhere it went, though: Best Special FX. Practical effects artists Cody Ruch and Samantha Sanford picked up that award repeatedly, winning Best Special FX at Smodcastle Horror Fest, Crimson Screen, GenreBlast, Houston Horror Film Festival, and Days of the Dead.

Multiple critics singled out that practical work, too. Dread Central’s Chad Collins called the effects team’s contribution worth the price of admission on its own, while Gruesome Magazine’s Joseph Perry praised the “splatterific gore galore” the pair delivered. Horror Press’s Brendan Jesus went further, writing that the film’s kills looked far more expensive than its indie budget would suggest.

The Story

Years have passed since anything frightening happened in Helen’s Valley. Josh Harper (Courtney Gains, Children of the Corn) has spent that time making sure the barn-dwelling monsters stay gone, both for the town and for his sister, Heather (Kelli Maroney, Chopping Mall). Something far more sinister, though, is working to bring the legend back. As the darkness closes in, Josh has to face the horrors he’s spent years trying to bury.

The cast also includes Tristan Olsen and Amanda Byrne, alongside genre veterans William Ragsdale (Fright Night), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), and John Kassir, the voice of the Crypt Keeper from Tales from the Crypt.

Director Justin M. Seaman credited the film’s fan base for making the trilogy possible, noting the story has now spanned the ’80s, the ’90s, and the present day.

What’s in the Box

Pre-orders are live now through Scream Team Releasing, with four variant covers, a slip cover option, and editions signed by cast and crew. Signers include Courtney Gains, Kelli Maroney, Felissa Rose, William Ragsdale, Ari Legman (Friday the 13th), director Justin M. Seaman, and several cast and crew members from the film itself.

The Blu-ray comes loaded with bonus content, too. Extras include two audio commentary tracks (one with Seaman and 1st AD Brandon Delph, another with Seaman and effects artists Ruch and Sanford), a 79-minute making-of documentary called “One Last Hurrah,” music videos from Any Given Sin and Courtney Gains, a poster design timelapse, a premiere Q&A, bloopers, deleted scenes, and the trailer. Fittingly for a horror trilogy, the release also includes a 3D Anaglyph version complete with its own pair of 3D glasses.

Scream Team Releasing is an indie horror distributor focused on keeping physical formats like VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray alive for independent filmmakers. Horror fans can find pre-order details and the full list of signed editions on the Scream Team Releasing store page
