Netflix has released the first trailer for The Last House, an unsettling sci-fi horror thriller that traps its characters in a nightmare with no apparent escape.
Starring Greta Lee (Past Lives) and Wagner Moura (Civil War), the film follows a family of four whose lives are turned upside down when they suddenly discover they can no longer leave their home. Doors won’t open, windows won’t break, and even their neighbors appear to be experiencing the same terrifying phenomenon. As days stretch into years, the family is forced to adapt to a new reality while trying to understand the mysterious force keeping them imprisoned.
The trailer hints at a story that blends psychological tension, survival horror, and science fiction. At one point, the footage jumps forward more than 1,000 days into the family’s confinement, showing how isolation and dwindling resources have transformed their lives. Just when hope seems lost, a stranger appears outside the house, suggesting that answers may finally be within reach.
Directed by Louis Leterrier, known for Fast X and Lupin, the film was previously developed under the title 11817 before being renamed The Last House. The screenplay comes from Matthew Robinson, whose previous credits include Love and Monsters.
Netflix has confirmed that The Last House will begin streaming on August 7, 2026. With its claustrophobic premise, mystery-driven narrative, and strong lead performances, the film is quickly shaping up to be one of the streamer’s most intriguing genre releases of the summer.
