Los Angeles’s greatest genre film festival just revealed its full 2026 program. It might be the most ambitious Beyond Fest lineup yet.
Beyond Fest runs September 23 through October 6. It spans four venues: the Egyptian Theatre, the MUBI Theatre at the Aero, Directors Village, and the MUBI Theatre at the Los Feliz 3. MUBI presents it, in partnership with the American Cinematheque. In total, the festival hosts 81 feature films, 10 World Premieres, 4 North American Premieres, 7 US Premieres, and 28 West Coast Premieres. Moreover, all ticket sales support the American Cinematheque’s 501(c)(3) non-profit. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, September 10, at 10:00 AM PT via americancinematheque.com.
Robert Eggers Takes Over the Egyptian
The single biggest event of the festival, Robert Eggers attends in person for a full day-long celebration at the Egyptian Theatre, covering his entire filmmaking decade. All four of his films screen, The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, and Nosferatu, and attendees get an exclusive first look at material from Werwulf, his upcoming werewolf horror starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, due Christmas Day. A full Robert Eggers retrospective capped by a Werwulf preview is, genuinely, one of the most exciting film events of the year.
The Horror Highlights
V/H/S/MIXTAPE gets its World Premiere at the Egyptian, directors include RZA, Flying Lotus, Creep director Patrick Brice, Ernest R. Dickerson, Tobias Forge, David Moreau, and Renee Zhan. That lineup alone makes this the most eclectic director assembly in V/H/S franchise history.
Victorian Psycho makes its West Coast Premiere with director Zachary Wigon and star Thomasin McKenzie in attendance. Pathetic Fallacy, Adam Egypt Mortimer’s psychedelic horror starring Kid Cudi, Jessica Rothe, Travis Fimmel, and Natasha Lyonne, screens in 35mm at the Aero with Mortimer and Kid Cudi present. Beware Boiúna, the giant snake creature feature from Lionsgate, makes its West Coast Premiere with Happy Death Day star Jessica Rothe attending.
Mike Flanagan’s Carrie Prime Video series gets its West Coast Premiere with Flanagan and Samantha Sloyan attending, two weeks before its October 7 streaming debut. The Cycle, Jordan Downey’s Shudder film starring Deborah Ann Woll, makes its West Coast Premiere. And Crystal Lake, Peacock’s Friday the 13th prequel series, gets a special screening, paired with a repertory screening of the original 1980 film.
Sender makes its West Coast Premiere with an extraordinary guest lineup: David Dastmalchian, Rhea Seehorn, and Jamie Lee Curtis all attend. Jane Schoenbrun presents the World Premiere of the “VHS Edition” of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma via MUBI.
The Retrospectives
Beyond Fest 2026 delivers three major retrospective events. M. Night Shyamalan attends in person for a 12-film retrospective including The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, Split, Glass, The Visit, Knock at the Cabin, and Trap. Don’t Breathe celebrates its 10th anniversary with director Fede Álvarez, Stephen Lang, Danny Zovatto, and Dylan Minnette all returning. Donnie Darko turns 25 with director Richard Kelly present.
Ken Russell’s The Devils gets its West Coast Premiere in a 4K restoration of the Director’s Cut, screened on 35mm via Warner Bros. Clockwork. Begotten gets a 4K restoration. RZA presents the World Premiere of his 40-minute short Saturday Afternoon Kung-Fu Theater: Born Invincible, plus a 4K restoration of Master of the Flying Guillotine with a special introduction. Michael Mann attends Directors Village for the World Premiere of Miami Vice: Director’s Final Cut, a brand new 4K cut for the film’s 20th anniversary. Al Pacino and Martin Brest appear together for a screening of Scent of a Woman.
Head of Programming Evrim Ersoy described the festival’s mission plainly: “Beyond Fest has always existed to erase the false borders between arthouse and grindhouse, the brand new and the gloriously rediscovered. This year’s programme is a maximalist celebration of Cinema in every form.”
