Dead Media Hits Digital TODAY- Stream It Right Now

The haunted DVD is now on demand, and your movie night is officially at risk.

Dead Media lands on Digital today. The debut feature from Minneapolis comedian-filmmaker Joseph Scrimshaw opened in select theaters on July 16. Now, your second chance arrives — and honestly, this one plays best at home anyway.

Maggie (Sammi-Jack Martincak) wants a quiet October movie night with friends. Then her lonely Gen X uncle Heppy (Sam Landman) shows up uninvited. He brings a physical DVD of The Lurcher, a long-lost ’90s horror cult classic nobody has seen in decades. They watch it. The disc turns out to be haunted. Creatures from inside the film start materializing in the living room. Movie night is cancelled. Survival mode: on.

The cast also includes James Urbaniak, Jessica Fenton, Anna Sundberg, Bill Corbett, and Gael Palen. Additionally, Joe Lynch executive produces. Scrimshaw calls the film “an exciting homage to great horror, cult classics, and the bygone era of DVD bonus features.”

Reviews landed in mixed but fond territory. The Pitch called it enthusiastic and infectious. Furthermore, Projected Figures placed it alongside The Final Girls and Beyond the Gates as a warm, postmodern love letter to horror nostalgia. The consensus: imperfect but original. In a summer of franchise horror, that counts for a lot.

Dead Media streams on Digital now via Antenna Releasing.
