Church retreats: terrible idea. Ozark wilderness: worse idea. Giant prehistoric spider that hunts by vibration: your problem now.
The first trailer for Don’t Move has arrived. Impractical Jokers star James “Murr” Murray co-wrote it with Darren Wearmouth, adapting their 2020 novel. Maclain Nelson directs from a script he co-wrote with both authors.
The setup is simple and brutal. A church group’s Ozark retreat goes wrong when something starts picking them off. Everyone suspects Ricky (Russell “Russ” Vitale), the group troublemaker. The real threat, however, hides deeper, a prehistoric arachnid buried in webs that tracks every footstep. Megan (Lyndsy Fonseca, Kick-Ass) must keep the survivors alive with one rule: don’t move.
The cast is strong too. Tom Cavanagh (The Flash), Hunter King (Life in Pieces), Rob Riggle (The Hangover), and Joseph Lee Anderson (Young Rock) all star. Additionally, T-Pain, Matt Biedel, and Impractical Jokers co-star Brian Quinn appear in cameos.
Murray calls the creature genuinely alien. It cannot reason. It cannot be argued with or outsmarted. He told Bloody Disgusting the film draws direct inspiration from The Descent, operating on three levels: human vs. creature, human vs. human, and human vs. nature.
Don’t Move premieres in Kansas City on September 8 and Los Angeles on September 9, then hits theaters September 11. Tickets are on sale now at dontmovemovie.com.
