Christmas is getting a horror makeover.
The first trailer for Ebenezer has arrived, offering a chilling new take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Directed by horror filmmaker Ti West (X, Pearl, MaXXXine), the film stars Johnny Depp as Ebenezer Scrooge in what looks to be a darker, more gothic retelling of the classic holiday story.
The trailer leans heavily into eerie imagery and supernatural horror, transforming Dickens’ familiar ghost story into something far more unsettling. Depp’s Scrooge remains the bitter, isolated miser audiences know, but West’s atmospheric direction gives the tale a haunting new identity.
The cast also features Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley, Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, Sam Claflin as Fred, Daisy Ridley, Tramell Tillman, Ellie Bamber, Charlie Murphy, and Arthur Conti as a young Scrooge.
Ebenezer marks Depp’s first major Hollywood studio release in several years and reunites audiences with one of literature’s most iconic characters through a horror-inspired lens. Paramount Pictures will release the film in theaters on November 13, 2026.
