Parker Finn’s Possession Remake Just Got Its Fourth Major Star

Parker Finn’s Possession remake keeps getting bigger, and its latest addition is a very good one.

Diego Calva (Babylon, Her Private Hell) has joined the film, according to Deadline. He steps into a lineup that already includes Margaret Qualley, Callum Turner, and Paul Dano. Finn writes, directs, and produces.

The production hasn’t confirmed Calva’s character yet. However, if the film follows Andrzej Żuławski’s 1981 original, he most likely plays Heinrich, Anna’s lover. Heinrich gets catastrophically entangled in a disintegrating marriage that turns supernatural and monstrous. Nobody escapes that story intact.

Not familiar with the original? Here’s why it matters. The 1981 Possession ranks among the most disturbing psychological horror films ever made. It follows Anna and her husband Mark in Cold War-era West Berlin. Their crumbling marriage spirals into paranoia, infidelity, and body horror, then into something far worse. Isabelle Adjani played Anna in the original and won Best Actress at Cannes for it. Notably, Adjani has personally blessed Qualley’s casting in the remake.

Beyond the cast, the producing team is equally impressive. Jonathan Fass, Roy Lee, Andrew Childs, and Robert Pattinson all produce, with Marc Bienstock executive producing. Production kicks off this month.

No release date yet. But with this cast and this source material, Possession is already one of the most exciting horror projects in the pipeline.
