The internet’s most iconic creepypasta is heading to the big screen, and this adaptation has a twist nobody’s tried before.
Tongal and filmmaker Savanah Moss (Funny Bunny) are developing a Jeff the Killer feature film, reported exclusively by The Wrap. It marks Tongal’s first-ever horror feature.
A 13-year-old boy goes insane after losing a fight and being burned by bullies. He carves a permanent smile into his face, bleaches his skin, and starts whispering “go to sleep” to his victims before killing them. His image, pale, wide-eyed, lipless, became one of the most recognisable faces of early internet horror. He’s been haunting the internet since 2008.
She has 15 million fans built around her signature “fever dream” horror content and grew up on creepypasta. Her pitch is refreshingly direct, “I don’t just want to recreate the creepypasta, I want to make Jeff feel terrifyingly real.”
Tongal is a creator collaboration platform, and for this project, they’re inviting the public to submit written ideas for Jeff’s motivation, vibe, and killing technique at tongal.com/jeffthekiller. The character was built by the internet. Now the internet gets a say in his movie. That’s either a great idea or an absolutely chaotic one, possibly both.
