A major update has arrived for one of the most anticipated modern horror sequels. Maika Monroe has confirmed that They Follow, the long-awaited sequel to It Follows, is officially moving forward.
Speaking recently, Monroe revealed that the project is her next film, stating clearly: “We’re doing it.” She also teased the tone of the sequel, describing it as “very dark” and pushing the boundaries even further than the original.
Monroe will reprise her role as Jay Height, the protagonist from the 2014 cult horror hit, who was stalked by a mysterious supernatural entity that could take any human form. The sequel is expected to expand on that concept, continuing the eerie, slow-burn dread that made the original film a standout in modern horror.
Original writer-director David Robert Mitchell is also returning, ensuring continuity in both tone and storytelling. Production partners NEON and Good Fear Content remain attached, signaling strong backing for the project as it moves toward production.
